Software Quality Assurance & Testing Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for software quality control experts, automation engineers, and software testers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have background in software application testing, but I am pretty new to game testing. I would like to seek some advice when considering taking on game testing project. What type of questions should I be asking? e.g. Type of testing (manual/automation), online/offine?, single/multiple players?

Any resources/url/article would be helpful, too.

Depends on kind of game? Arcade? RTS? FPP, TPP? Single/multiple plays? – dzieciou Jun 14 '12 at 8:29

for game testing it is just manual and no test case. most of the game tester play a level again and again in all possible ways. and find bugs. Bugs in games can be very interesting. some of them are unusual UI behaviour, problem with collision detection(eg: man walking through a wall) and out of the game world(eg: you enter a door and ur not in the game any more) and many times crashes. To Start with will be best to find a beta verssion of a game and play it over and over again to find bugs.

"play it over and over again" Looks like game testers have unlimited time and budget ;-) – dzieciou Jun 19 '12 at 16:48
@ dzieciou, i dont know about budget. but ya u need to play the game as many ways as possible so as to find the max number of bugs and fyi in game testers most of the time get to play only one level of the game and that to for days.. – Kanishka Choudhury Jun 20 '12 at 6:12
