comment Testing with no QA team in an agile development environment
One of the devs I work with recently wrote a blog post outlining his approach, might be easier to read that than me write a huge comment. Combine the approach he outlines in the post with me doing exploratory testing around his code and of the stories and you have the approach we try and follow - spin.atomicobject.com/2012/10/03/…

One of the posters criteria was 'robust' so a new tool in early stage of development doesnt match that requirement

comment One tool to rule them all
that's the problem though isn't it -there's a lot of different qualities that you could be testing - eg you haven't mentioned internationisation, localisation, usability, consistency. And what do you mean by 'code validation' ? - I am trying to be helpful, just wanting to know more about what problem(s) you are hoping to these tools will solve. Sure, someone can come along and recommend Burpsuite for security testing but unless you understand what the tool is doing - and what it misses - how useful will this be for you ?

I think you need to expand on what you mean by 'validate an entire website'

Good point - and great answer. Hopefully the OP will come back and let us know exactly what was being asked for - if it was the typical HR person writing the job ad then it could mean anything...
