comment Choosing framework type for selenium RC/Webdriver
Normally the UI of a test automation frame work would be an xls sheet in which we give row by row inputs of test step key words if KW framework and in the basis of each row in an xls as a single test case and the test steps would be in respect to the specific columns in a row where we give input data for DD frame. Hope I made my point more clear. I would like to know based on that perspective the usability and acceptance of a frame work

thanks for that point. By keyword(KW) or data driven(DD) frame, I meant the option(or interface) that the end user of the test frame work would use to create individual test cases with the already created AUT specific navigation functions, user event API's or functions, page objects or whatever.

comment Rule of thumb for using wait()
The following are the type of waits i said about, it waits until the expectation is met new WebDriverWait(driver, 10).until(ExpectedConditions.presenceOfElementLocated(By.name("btnG"))); new WebDriverWait(driver, 10).until(ExpectedConditions.elementToBeClickable(By.name("btnG"))); driver.findElement(By.name("btnG")).click(); new WebDriverWait(driver, 3).until(ExpectedConditions.titleIs("webdriver - Google Search"));

@DanSnell, No nothing executes after .get() opens the urls. Its like no response comes to webdriver after driver.get() executes. I tried giving different commands after driver.get().

I found the scripts getting very slow when using DP for my application, that's why I am trying not to avoid Object Repo completely. However if there seems no other option then I would go for DP.

I believe that for such a system who handles large amount of data like ours really need such a testing environment. If you find this not right way then please give more suggestions.

Stuart i dont understand what is so funny about it. Our test team created the parallel application described above which is created in xls vba macro , which fetches data given in the xls sheets and does the calculation based on the requirements of the webservice. Our test team who created the parallel application is completely independent on the development team who created the webservice. The test team also do through unit tests on the vbs code we create for the test application .

comment Solving “SeleneseTestCase is deprecated” issue
Yes Ardesco a consistent solution for Jason's issue is to avoid the deprecated code, but until he comes across with a fix for that he can use the annotation.

We started with vb macro to keep the test system simple. We have plans to replace the macro system if required, but for the time being we are planning to go ahead with the current system. I wish to hear more about different approaches to do such kind of testing . Thanks for your idea, it helps.
