I am avid Software Tester and have been working on Selenium from past couple of years. I have largely worked with java client driver of Selenium and have started dabbling in to Selenium 2.0 of late. I am also co-author of official Selenium Doc at Selenium Head Quarter which maintains selenium. Besides Selenium, I work on Manual Testing, Performance Testing and automated Accessibility Testing. Of late I have been conducting free on line selenium training. You could find more on this on my site

My take from here is to have no two test rus interfering with each other because of test data generated by one test run while still being able to identify error which may be resultant of specific set of test data. Thanks all

Thanks for detailed answer. I would most definitely take option 4 especially non english locale not having english text, if I had to check for presence of text.

So do you maintain those XMl files? During you experience have you found localization defect using test automation this way? I am just eager to know on efforts it needs to localize automation tests and if it is worth it. On another forum I was given couple of suggestions but they sounded daunting to me and decided to stick to text object identification than text it self, you could find it here - sqaforums.com/…

comment Test Automation for different Locale?
Guess what, I read your blog and commented (though not yet visible) before posting this question. I see the point about unique identifies. But what if you had to check validation messages in different languages, How do you handle that? Now would you keep different String file, one for each locale?
