No one is ranting - I'm merely stating an opposition to your use of the word. I think what you have written proposes a narrow view of testing and maybe an overly-broad view of someone's impact on ensuring quality. That's fine, we disagree.

I disagree with your use of "please avoid the term 'tester', especially in interviews". That's how I self-identify and I think it's a more accurate term.

comment Testing matrix: occurence/impact/probability of bug
"I would expect testers to document every possible way they could test their owned areas.. This allows them to communicate what they WILL and WILL NOT test. Both are equally important for communication up the management chain." - I completely disagree. The higher you go up the management chain the less the executives care about the details of 1. documenting everything (bad idea in general) 2. the specifics of what you did / did not test.

I would be careful about stating you know what communicating professionally is like at a company you don't work at.

Do you use the Heuristic Test Strategy Model (satisfice.com/tools/htsm.pdf) when designing tests? Is that in your curriculum?

There's no age requirement and you can never have too much experience. Does your company provide promotions and salary increases with certifications? Have you asked them?

Hi Ishan, exploratory testing is not a "type" of testing - it's not a technique it's an approach and those two differences are important.

Udacity's course covers some theory but it's more geared towards glass-box testing (which can be useful).

comment ISO standards implement in Software Quality assurance/testing
I've never used this - I'm only trying to help. You can create a template by using the information on the wikipedia page under quality model and then brainstorming ideas / characteristics. I'm not going to do the work for you. =)
