Systematic approaches to selection of test data I call myself senior software tester because I worked as a tester for 7 years now. I know many things about testing, but I know that I can never know enough. Questions like these make my heart warm because I know what I have to learn next and what still can be learned about testing. Awesome Question. +1. Thanks! |

Does anyone have a good list of steps for reducing a bug? No, I didn't said that checklist are for unskilled work only. I never said such a thing. I said that for this particular thing there is no checklist to go through. Like Ethel said: "Just to be clear, I know that you can't just walk through a checklist or else we'd automate the process" |

Does anyone have a good list of steps for reducing a bug? Sorry 'bout that. My point is, that there is no recepie or check list to reduce a bug. Of course it's a tester skill. It's knowledge, it's experience, and it all depends on the bug you found and the circumstances which you found it in. :) |

Does anyone have a good list of steps for reducing a bug? I don't think so. There are many bugs out there that are either not reproducable but once, or just plain hard to catch. You can't put a list on that. The reason that you didn't find any is that there are none. You have to be intuitive. Or know the code a little bit perhaps. |

Can the base-url be changed in the same browser session using Selenium RC? *chrome is another wrapper for firefox that can use https. It doesn't mean that it literary will open a CHROME browser. |

A way to match on text using CSS locators Ooh... Yeah.. This probably only works when using the RC. I don't know 'bout the IDE. It doesn't have much of the support of programming languages. :( |

Do you test using VM, User Agent, MutlipleIE etc? Heh, indeed. :) But also, if I publish good answers they might see that : ohh that company has good employees working for them. Or i could promote them and so on and so fort. This does work both ways. But generally I agree. I would avoid writing down names and such. |

Do you test using VM, User Agent, MutlipleIE etc? Nope. We just report it. The dev mostly work on VMs too. And we did not encounter any defects yet stating: Only on VM. Or only on Live environment. Hack, most of the build machines are VMs. :) There are really only few dedicated machines. And we are a big company in the US. |
