comment What test generators do exist?
@stacky-bit: Ctrl+Shift+T in IntelliJ IDEA or in Eclipse will create unit test script template (aka stub) for selected methods of a component. Created test method will have empty body that you need to fill in. Is this want you're looking for? I'm sure you will find other widgets for generating test stubs when working with other types of interfaces, e.g., for HTTP or Web browser.

You should probably clarify what do you mean by test script template or given an example of that.

@Leon, so why people may want to zoom out pages of your app? What could be their rationale?

@stack-bit, there are tools for random or parametrized random test data generation. Searching online, on SE in general and here on SQA in particular will return you some results. Pure random data generators are used to check how your system behaves for invalid input or find security holes. However, even in those cases you need to use your brain to narrow/parametrize samples. In general, the generator cannot abstract the purpose of the application from the code.

Automated test scripts? But your descriptive/explanatory comment you gave is enough :-)

By test scripts you mean scripts for manual or automated tests?

BTW making sure that product is free of bugs is practically impossible, given the number of variables that impact the code base. You can only get some level of confidence about that.

Welcome to SQA, Usman. If developers write test cases to make sure the product is fully functional and free of bugs than what is the goal of QA engineers in writing tests? Is that goal different?

Welcome to SQA. What do you mean by "SQA team [...] have created about 600 bugs"? They introduced defects to the code base?

comment Looking for an excellent example of using a spreadsheet for test case management
@Edmondo1984: I might sound sarcastic ;-) but your belief makes a perfect sense in the ideal situation when you're not constrained by your management. Hence, I would suggest you to post another question: "What are better test management tools than Excel?" and then answer it yourself.

BTW, I think your question is universal for any language.

Others will give more complete advice, but I usually write what the test should do e.g. parsing_should_throw_exception_for_invalid_input(). This is in according to given-when-then grammar style.

You mentioned naming convention for unit tests files. You could also describe: example names for single test cases (methods), example names and organization of functional tests, what exactly components are in your case (i.e., what your component test cover in comparison to unit tests). That would help other answer your question.
