Why run unit tests on mobile devices? I'm no expert as well but this is what I was thinking. Mobile devices are drastically from desktop/laptops in terms of hardware and networking, so this sounds like a good answer. |

What Are Some Unobvious Differences Between Testing a Web Application and a Desktop Application? Automated UI testing can be a bit different. For a desktop app, controls are (usually?) tested by keyboard and mouse simulation. For a web app, controls can be tested by input simulation as well as by JavaScript API calls (ie calling click() or onhover() methods). This can lead to subtly different behaviours between the cases. |

How do I tune the probabilities in a Markov chain based load test to produce specific hit rates? I hope it goes well. I'm always interested to hear about applications of Markov chains. |

Do Academic Researchers in Automated Software Testing Believe All Testing Can Be 100% Automated? Thanks for the responses everyone. It would be great to hear from anyone within academia with related knowledge as well :) |

Do Academic Researchers in Automated Software Testing Believe All Testing Can Be 100% Automated? +1 for giving a nice example of "try to automate everything" vs. "solving problems in the most efficient way". |

Do Academic Researchers in Automated Software Testing Believe All Testing Can Be 100% Automated? Ok, fair point about saying whether "all" academics believe certain things. As for my experience, I have seen academics present models with potentially major issues in both their assumptions and analysis. Usually though, I understand why they did this from some standpoint. Here, I'm trying to see why an academic might even believe 100% automation is a good goal. |

Is Selenium the right tool for browser compatibility testing? I've also heard this across mobile platforms. Something that might work on an iOS device might not work on a BlackBerry, for example. |

How do people express their ability to test software? +1 for "simple and quickly cobbled together to help get things done faster". A good tester should know her way around a scripting language for two. So helpful! |
