I'll second both of these - great reads

comment Testing an application under continuous development
Sounds like your company has adopted the 'Agile' product without actually being 'agile' in the development process. Developers writing automated unit tests (see below) will give you greater confidence & therefore greater flexibility.

comment Testing an application under continuous development
+1 for the developers writing automated unit tests as a long term strategy. The automated regression suite acts as a scaffolding for the code and gives you a certain level of confidence when 'accepting' the code for test. (some might argue you cannot have continuous integration if you dont have automated regression tests)

This site is ace. I use it in conjunction with the textbooks, but it also takes you through the basics.

comment The role of a software tester in an agile environment?
Agree with you there Steve. All team members should be able to do each others role to a certain extent. Now for some lingo bingo - we're "generalising specialists".

comment Print Stylesheets - how do you effectively test them?
Thanks for this Bruce, greatly appreciated. We try and use PDF Creator to be a bit more environmentally friendly, but like print preview its not perfect. Thanks for the links - going to try that testapi. Fortunately our printouts dont need to be that accurate, so we dont need to cover printer settings as well as OS & browser settings

comment How to QA the QA candidates… what should I look for in a QA person
Agreed - make sure you identify the holes in your team that can't be fixed by a process (instead of a person) & recruit to fill those holes.

comment Are code reviews considered part of QA?
@Jim Rush - agreed. I test software. I don't know enough of external factors impacting the quality of a product in order to comment on it.
