I am a scientist by education, now working as a developer, consultant, and occasionally writer. Some of my technical interests include Agile Information Systems, Semantic Web, Distributed Systems, NoSQL databases (Apache Cassandra, Neo4J, RDF triple stores), Visual Analytics, and Photography.

I also take a wider interest in agile software development (or rather, how to build software well, and foster teams that build software well, rather than getting hung up on a particular methodology).

I currently work primarily in Java (with a little Python and server-side JavaScript), and (if I ever get time) aim to learn more Scala and/or Clojure. In the dim and distant past I have dabbled with C, ARM assembler, BBC Basic, and Fortran 77. Oh, and PostScript:
