comment How can developers improve relations with testers?
I remember a quote from Joel Sposky's blog that said "Why would you have your $100 an hour developer do this when it could be relegated to a $30 an hour tester?" and it made my blood boil...

comment Alternative for HP ALM (QC) + Jira
Hi Naomi - two problems. First, affiliation has to be announced in every post that promotes the product you're affiliated with (which you did in your last post, but not here). Second, it is hard to accept an answer that basically says "follow this link, it has your answer". But I'm going to have to do some soul searching about this entire question, honestly - I'm not sure whether it should even be open, because it doesn't appear to be answerable (despite the accepted answer).

comment How to test battery consumption of mobile app?
What does the app do? What modes does it have? Are there things you would logically expect to consume more battery than others? Without the answer to these questions, there isn't much of a plan that can be made.

comment What are some good thinking tools that a tester can use to generate ideas?
I can appreciate the problem you're facing, but how would you go about selecting a "correct" answer? I think this is a little too broad/opinion based for this site, unfortunately.

comment Can a smoke test be a pre-condition and assumption for a test case?
So how would you handle the scenario where one person has X Y and Z when they do a smoke test and you do X Y and W in your smoke test? How can you assume (in this simple scenario) that Z or W ever got tested? That's why I say it should be formalized.

Your smoke test isn't formalized? I'd fix that!

I actually asked a question -very- similar to this the other day. Does this answer your question: sqa.stackexchange.com/q/15737/65

comment Flex Test Automation Tools Questions
It's too bad, this doesn't exactly answer the question but it isn't your fault. the question itself is not set up in such a way that it could be properly answered.

comment Real life example of software risk estimation
@Mubbashir... This is way too broad to be answered objectively. Further, I should say we do welcome homework actually, as long as it's phrased in a way that's in accordance to our policies. Like any other question, we like to see what attempts you've made to solve the problem so far, and what specific areas you struggle in so we can focus our expertise. Also, in my experience telling people to hurry because you have a deadline is not very effective - ask with time to get multiple results and have a few comment-iterations and still get an assignment (homework or industry) in on time.

comment script for clicking link in QTP/UFT
To answer this best, you'll have to give a little more context. What code do you have now that isn't working? Is anything similar working? Is there something different between the link you're trying to click and others you've successfully clicked before?

I have to agree with bish, knowing what patches are necessary would make this answer much better.

@nidhi I made this into a comment, since you can't comment yet. When you get 50 rep you can though... thanks for sharing! :)

comment Give read only access in Bugzilla
I've been through the docs on groups, but it's all about adding more permissions. I want to remove permissions. I can't seem to make it go "You can read what bugs are in it, but you can't make new ones".
