comment Is it possible to test app behaviors without considering UI and client platform?
I understand, but some apps take a different path through the code when they detect the client is a desktop device rather than a mobile device. If you were watching, you would see a different series of GET and POST requests coming in from different clients. Perhaps it doesn't matter for your app. You could use a tool which abstracts the client, such as cURL.

Are you assuming your application behaves identically without regard to the end user's platform? Many apps dynamically change their behavior in the presence of a mobile, small-screen client versus a desktop client. (That's how the app I am testing works, for example).

Good answer. A few of these might help, too: allthingsquality.com/2010/04/…

comment Standards for documenting input validation rules & system/error messages?
I've something similar in the past (although I don't have an example around). Consider adding things like max length, target db table+column, etc

comment How to handle new “not reproducible” bug, that is known to exist but not known how
Good answer. In addition to the Product Manager, you can often enlist Customer Service in getting more information from the customer who reported the problem. Joining in on a phone call or webex might be in order, too. And perhaps this instance will help in your justification for a professional QA Team ;-)
