This is very wrong comment. Both testing types are acceptance testing types, that means no developers are involved. not in traditional setting. To make it little bit better I removed all "always" and deleted #3 with public & market, because alfa & beta are tests before going live.

Let me state few differences between both the testing

  1. Alpha Testing is always performed by the developers at the software development site. Beta Testing is always performed by the customers at their own site.
  2. Sometimes Alpha Testing is also performed by Independent Testing Team. Beta Testing is not performed by Independent Testing Team.
  3. Alpha Testing is not open to the market and public. Beta Testing is always open to the market and public.
  4. Alpha Testing is always performed in Virtual Environment. Beta Testing is performed in Real Time Environment.
  5. Alpha Testing is always performed within the organization. Beta Testing is always performed outside the organization.
