I have a few programs that sends an email/SMS if finished running and information on whether run succeeded. However since email/text message can fail to get sent someone must physically check the email after EVERY run to see if it's there.

Is there a way to only send an email/SMS if run fails and also account for message not being sent. That way someone only has to check the email if a run fails instead of every run. Or is there a better way to validate the output than email?
